As June approaches, I find myself looking forward to an upcoming church camp at Berjaya Times Square with a sense of excitement that goes beyond the usual anticipation of travel and fellowship.
Over the past year, I have experienced what I can only describe as a season of transition.
Like many people navigating change, there have been moments of uncertainty, challenges that tested my resilience, and situations that required perseverance even when the outcome was not immediately visible. Yet through these experiences, one recurring image has remained close to my heart: the transformation of a butterfly.
The butterfly’s journey begins in places that are often hidden. Before it takes flight, it spends time in the cocoon, where growth happens quietly and unseen. Looking back, I realize that many of life’s most significant lessons are learned in similar seasons.
There are periods when we feel as though little is happening.
We continue showing up.
We continue serving.
We continue believing.
Yet beneath the surface, God is shaping our character, refining our faith, and preparing us for what lies ahead.
As I prepare for this church camp, I cannot help but reflect on how closely this mirrors my own journey.
Looking Back Before Moving Forward
The past season has taught me valuable lessons about perseverance.
There were times when I felt stretched by responsibilities and challenged by circumstances that seemed far removed from the vision I had for my future. Some days were filled with joy and purpose, while others required patience and endurance.
Yet God often works through both.
When I reflect on Scripture, I am reminded that many of God’s servants experienced seasons of preparation before stepping into their calling.
Moses spent years in the wilderness before leading Israel.
Joseph endured years of uncertainty before entering the palace.
David served faithfully in obscurity before becoming king.
The preparation was not separate from the calling—it was part of it.
Perhaps the same is true for us.
Berjaya Times Square: More Than a Destination
While Berjaya Times Square is known for its vibrant atmosphere, shopping, entertainment, and energy, I see this upcoming camp as something deeper than a physical destination.
To me, it symbolizes a place of encounter.
A place to pause from the busyness of daily life.
A place to reconnect with God.
A place to reflect on where He has brought me and where He may be leading me next.
Most importantly, it is an opportunity to gather with fellow believers who are also pursuing growth, purpose, and transformation.
There is something powerful about being surrounded by people who share the same desire to grow in faith.
From Cocoon to Butterfly
The theme that continues to resonate with me is transformation.
The butterfly does not emerge overnight.
The process takes time.
The cocoon can feel restrictive, uncomfortable, and hidden. Yet it is within that very space that the transformation occurs.
Similarly, some of life’s most meaningful spiritual growth happens in seasons that feel ordinary or difficult.
When we cannot see immediate progress, God is still at work.
When circumstances seem challenging, God is still shaping us.
When we feel unseen, God still sees us.
As I look ahead to this camp, I sense an invitation to embrace that process fully—to trust that every season has purpose and that transformation often happens before we can recognize it ourselves.
Anticipating What God Will Do
I do not know exactly what God has planned for this upcoming camp.
Perhaps there will be moments of worship that bring renewed clarity.
Perhaps there will be conversations that provide encouragement and fresh perspective.
Perhaps there will be lessons that challenge me to step out in faith.
Or perhaps the greatest blessing will simply be the reminder that God has been faithful through every season.
Whatever lies ahead, I approach this camp with gratitude and expectation.
Not because everything is already figured out.
But because I believe God continues to lead His people forward.
A Prayer for the Journey Ahead
As I prepare for Berjaya Times Square, my prayer is simple:
Lord, thank You for every season—both the visible and the hidden. Thank You for the lessons learned in times of challenge and the growth that occurs when no one else can see it. As I attend this church camp, help me to hear Your voice clearly, grow deeper in faith, and embrace the transformation You are working within me. May I leave with renewed purpose, renewed strength, and renewed confidence in the path You have prepared. Amen.
The butterfly emerges because it trusts the process.
As I look ahead to this upcoming church camp, I pray that I will do the same.
